About

Curating education for a changing world

The future of learning isn’t found in one classroom, one curriculum, or one school. It’s being built right now — at kitchen tables and in co-op gyms, in microschools and learning pods, by parents, teachers, and entrepreneurs who believe kids deserve more than one way to learn.

Indie Education Network exists to bring that movement together. We’re a hub for independent education, connecting the people, resources, and ideas shaping how a new generation learns. Whether you’re teaching your own children, leading a co-op, launching a microschool, or building a business that serves families, you belong here.

Why we exist

Families have never had more options — and never felt more on their own trying to navigate them. The independent education world is full of brilliant people and powerful resources, but they’re scattered across a thousand websites, Facebook groups, and word-of-mouth recommendations.

We’re changing that. Indie Education Network curates what actually works and connects the people doing the work, so you can spend less time searching and more time building something that fits your family and your community.

Who we’re for

  • Homeschool families looking for direction, encouragement, and trusted resources
  • Homeschool co-op and group leaders building and running thriving communities
  • Microschool founders launching and growing learner-centered schools
  • Education entrepreneurs and businesses serving this growing movement
  • Education leaders advancing new models and advocating for family freedom

What you’ll find here

  • The Beyond the Schoolhouse Podcast — conversations with the parents, founders, and educators reimagining what learning can look like
  • Articles — practical guidance, organized by who you are and what you’re building
  • Curriculum & Resources — curated curriculum, tools, and templates for families, groups, and schools
  • A Resource Directory — a growing, searchable hub of the organizations, curriculum, events, and people across the independent education landscape
  • Consulting — hands-on help to start, run, and grow your group or school

However you learn, teach, or build, our goal is the same: to inspire and equip you to do it with confidence.

About the founder

Sarah McCubbin

Hi, I’m Sarah McCubbin — mom of nine and the founder of Indie Education Network.

Over nearly two decades, our family has explored just about every kind of education there is: homeschooling, co-ops, charter, private, public, and more. That journey taught me two things — there is no single “right” way to educate a child, and no family should have to figure it out alone.

As co-founder of Pallas Center, I help create curriculum that brings learning to life for co-ops, microschools, and families. Along the way, I’ve coached group and school leaders and launched the Beyond the Schoolhouse podcast. Indie Education Network is where all of that comes together: a place to gather the best of independent education and put it within reach of the families and leaders building the future of learning.

I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s build it together.
